If you spend all week wearing a uniform or feeling pretty uninspired in your office wear, the weekend is when you can really be creative with your outfits. Of course, with too much choice, it can be hard to know what to wear. Here are some simple and beautiful outfits for the weekend.
Keep it casual
Jeans are a staple of every fashionista’s wardrobe, as there are so many things you can do with them. If you are having a morning of meeting your mom for some shopping, before a meal out with the girls, stick on a pair of jeans. In the morning, pair them with crisp white sneakers and a white tee. When it comes to food and drinks with your friends, put on some heels, a tailored blazer, French-tuck the tee, and be sure to add a statement necklace and swipe of red lipstick. Voila! From a morning of wandering the farmers’ market to an evening of appetizers and Appletinis.
Feel like a fairy in a cute dress (bonus points if it a. twirls when you spin and b. has pockets!), with a fun pattern. A vintage or rockabilly fit will make sure you still look like an adult, even while adding some whimsy to your vibe, and be sure to get creative with a novelty handbag or statement shoes. This is an excellent look for a day-time date, especially if you are off to do something like a picnic or a visit to the fair. This outfit is about fun and femininity. Pin curls and red lips are a must!
Cozy but cool
A jumper dress is a great way to keep warm if you are off on an adventure but want to still look chic. Play around with layers by adding a pinafore over the top of a turtle-neck jumper dress, and pair with knitted tights, chunky boots, and a quirky beret. Add a leather jacket on top if it’s extra cold, and to look extra cool!
High waisted trousers are a great way to play with proportions and take a runway trend into the real world. Experiment with colors and patterns on the top to balance out the bottom, and find a fit that suits you – perhaps a paper bag waist or a boyfriend fit will flatter your body shape. A tucked-in shirt will create a classy, more dressy look, whereas you can bring out the boho vibes by partnering a pair of bell-bottom jeans with a crop top.
Rock those Pjs
Whether it’s for a snuggly night in watching a film with popcorn, or a lazy morning breakfast on the sofa, pajamas are the ultimate in comfort, but they can be stylish too! Do you think Beyonce wears an old college fundraiser T-shirt and baggy shorts to bed?! Treat yourself to some cute pajamas, perhaps a silk nightdress to feel like a movie star, or a set of super-soft cotton shirt and pants. Accessorize with fuzzy slippers and a robe if it gets a bit cold – perfect!
Remember, the weekends are for fun, and if you’re not having fun with your clothes, you’re doing it wrong! You don’t need a million items in an overflowing closet to look fresh on the weekend, but a few key pieces that you can mix and match and layer up will really kickstart your wild weekend wardrobe.
